WORCESTER REGIONAL REPORT THREADSo, I got up about Eight and all that. Managed to get to Worcester for about ten, did some random testing with Charlie and Sam and before I knew it we were going into the first round.
Round 1:
Dan Nelson (Tele-DaD ) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's )
Game One:
To be honest it didn't actually start off that hard, I started off with a pretty damn good hand so I was able to keep reasonable control, considering its Dan Bloody Nelson. Then he CCV'ed me, and this just wiped out my field full of gravekeepers. First game to him.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 2800 - 0
Dan = 8000 - 6500 - 5300
Game Two:
CCV'ed me like first turn, not fun....at all. Just struggled from there on out. Second game to him.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 2800 - 1600 - 0
Dan = 8000 - 6500 - 5300
0 - 1
Round 2:
Anthony (Six Sams) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's )
Game One:
To be honest not much happened thanks to TERRIBAD hands. Was a big struggle. First game to me.
Me = 8000 - 4100 - 3300 - 700 - 600
Anthoney = 8000 - 6100 - 5900 - 3500 - 0
Game Two:
Same as first game really, just he won. Second Game to him.
Me = 8000 - 5400 - 5200 - 5100 - 2200 - 1100 - 300 - 0
Anthony = 8000 - 7300 - 5800 - 3300 - 900
Game Three:
Much easier this time, I got my cards. Final game to me.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 3800
Anthony = 8000 - 7400 - 6700 - 4800 - 4100 - 1700 - 0
1 - 1
Round 3:
Mark (Lightsworn) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's)
Game One:
This game properly pissed me off, I had game pretty much, then he just topdecked heavy storm and destroyed me...I was not amused. First game to him.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 200 - 0
Mark = 8000 - 6100 - 200
Game Two:
Got my lock, Necrovalley confused him to be honest xD...good game. Second game to me.
Me = 8000 - 7000 - 5300
Mark = 8000 - 7100 - 5200 - 2600 - 0
Game Three:
He raped me, opening hand was like 2 thunder king, 2 gk guard, 2 bribe....didn't work. Final game to him.
Me = 8000 - 3200 - 3100 - 0
Mark = 8000
1 - 2 T_T
Round 4:
Sean (Lightsworn AGAIN) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's)
Game One:
His heart wasn't in it, he scooped pretty much straight after I flipped oppression. First game to me.
Me = 8000 - 7200
Sean = 8000 - 7200 - 5300 - 0
Game Two:
He had me on the ropes here, but I got oppression, necrovalley and a spy out later on and he just got frustrated and scooped, I think he went home after this... He's way too hard on himself. Second game to me.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 3000 - 1200
Sean = 8000 - 7600 - 6800 - 0
2 - 2
Round 5:
Andrew Swan (Tele-DaD -_-) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's)
Game One:
I almost had him here, gravekeeper's guard and two book of moons means alot of damage xD. But as always I get CCV'ed... And therefore lose . First game to him.]
Me = 8000 - 7200 - 5000 - 4200 - 3100 - 200 - 0
Andrew = 8000 - 2000 - 1500
Game Two:
Tele-DaD is good, I'm not. He owned me. Second game to him.
Me = 8000 - 6200 - 4000 - 3000 - 0
Andrew = 8000 - 7900 - 7800 - 7500 - 9000
2 - 3 *ARGH*
Round 6:
Tom (Tele-DaD) Vs Me (Gravekeeper's)
Game One:
He wastes a solemn, I get thunder king and oppression going, he loses. First game to me.
Me = 8000 - 7200
Tom = 8000 - 4000 - 2100 - 0
Game Two:
Usual good hand for me, spy, oppression, necrovalley, thunder king, solemn and bribe... Second game to me.
Me = 8000 - 4000 - 3200
Tom = 8000 - 7900 - 5200 - 0
3 - 3 Epic Fails -_-
So ye, I don't top 8 obviously xD. I go home after hanging around for the quarters... I had to catch a train.
Pros:
To be honest, the only pro of the whole tournament was the fact Andy won, Congrats to you mate .
Cons:
CCV
Andrew Swan
Dan Nelson
Mark top decking storm for game .
Me being an UTTER noob.
No mat.
No national qualification.

Well as I promised before, if I didn’t top 8 (Which I didn’t, got 10th ) I would feature the top 8 metagame styli. So here is the first:
I must first apologise that if I have made errors in the report, please fell free to PM me with the correction and I will make it. A lot of the times, the cards were moving very fast and I was having to take note and fill in the blanks with my memory.
Mike M Vs Shane Bell
Mike was the other non-teledad top and was running Gladiator beasts. He was up against Shane bell who had topped the swiss and was one of the pros set to win the tournament. Mike was going to have a very tough time.
Shane started and opened with Krebons, Heavy Storm, Malicious, Brain Control, ROTA and E-Teleport. Shane activated ROTA, took Dark Grepher, normal summoned him and discarded Malicious to send Necro Garnda to the graveyard with his effect. He then passed to Mike.
Mike Summoned GB Laquari, set two spell or traps and then ended. Shane followed up with heavy storm to destroy Mikes Shrink and Wabaku, both of which he chained. Shane used Malicious and Teleport to Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon, normal summoned Krebons and used his last Malicious to bring out Colossal Fighter. He then ended without attacking due to Wabaku.
Mike set a monster and put Laquari to defence and then ended. Shane summoned Stratos, took Diamond Dude and used it for D-draw. He normal summoned Psychic Commander and used Grepher to send his in hand Plaguespreader to send necro gardna to the Grave.he brought up the Plague and used Stratos to Synchro summon Goyo Guardian. He attack Laquri with Goyo, attack the facedown with Grepher and it was Spirit Reaper! Shane ended and mike simply set a monster. Shane Actiavted Brain Control on Reaper to destroy it, ran over his set Hoplomus and attacked with the rest for Game.
Shane takes game one with full force and control and they both do minor siding for Game 2.
Mike starts with GB Laquari, CCV, Gorz, Wabaku, Monster Reborn and PWWB. Mike Summons the GB, sets PWWB and ends. Shane sets and monster and a spell or trap. Mike activates Gladiators Proving Ground to take GB Bestari, He attacks with Laqurai into Mirror Force. Mike ends with one ST set.
Shane summons Krebons, Flips Sangan and Synchros for Magical Android, taking Malicious with Sangan. Actiavtes Destiny Draw discarding Malicous. Activates Heavy Storm and Mike Chains the PWWB, sesnding Magical Android back to the Extra Deck. Using Teleport and Malicious, Shane Brings out Colossal Fighter and attacks and ends.
Mike summons the Besteri, sets the Wabaku and ends. Shane attacks next turn and Mike flips Wanaku, allowing him to Tag Out for Murmillo to kill Colossal. Shane Sets a monster and ends. Mike attacks the monster with Murmillo and its revealed as Necro Gardna. Mike Tags out for Laqurai and sets a ST. Shane Summons Doom Lord to try to remove Laquari, but Mike flips War Chariot to negate it. Shane ends and Mike Sets Sangan, then attacks and tags out for Esquate to take back War Chariot. He sets it and ends. Shane sets another monster and ends. Mike then pulls out Gyzarus with Besteri, Destroying another Necro Gardna. Gyzarus attacks and when Shane Atempts to Necro Gardna, Mike Flips War chariot. Mike tags out Gyzarus for a Retari to hit the second Necro gardna and Daruis which brings up Laquari, he then brings out Heraklinos and ends. Shane sets a monster and ends. Herk kills it next turn, sets a ST and Shane plays ROTA for Grepher. He uses Grepher to send Malicious from his hand to send Plague to the grave, brings them both out to Synchro for Colossal, but Mike Solemns the summon. Shane sets a few more monsters, but unable to mount a big enough monster against Herk with it shutting down spells, Shane scoops.
A very interesting plays by Mike and he manages to steal a win, can he repeat it?
Shane stars game three by setting a ST and ending. Mike summons Laquri, runs into mirror force and sets a ST. Shane summons Snipe, discards Malicious to hit the backrow card and misses! He discards Plaguespreader and gets another 6!! At which point shane comments that he is going to throw the dice away. Either way, with a combination of Plaguespreader, Malicious and Teleport, Shane summons Stardust, then Colossal and Mike Reaveals his facedown ST to be Wabaku! A risky play not chaining it before as he wouldn’t have been able to chain it if Snipe had destroyed it!
Mike summons Esqaute to run over Snipe hunter then tages out for Hoplomus. Shane Reborns Snipe to kill Holopmus and attacks with all three. Mike sets 3x ST and a monster. Shane attacks and Mike flips another Wabaku, revealing a Sangan. Mike passes his next turn and Shane pushes through with all his monsters for Game!
Semi-Finals
Landstar (Andrew) Vs Shane
For top 4, with the other match being a TeleDAD mirror, the obvious choice was the rouge Little City deck vs TeleDAD. This one was going to be interesting and we all knew it.
Shane won the roll 5 ro 4 and opened with Allure of Darkness removing Snipe hunter for its affect. He set a ST and ended. Landstar summoned Thunder King and attacked into PWWB, discarding Psychic Commander. He set 3 STs and ended (Shane gave a sigh). Shane played another Allure and removed Krebons. He summoned Stratos, activated his first effect and Landstar flipped Skilldrain. Shane then activated Teleport and and Landstar flipped Royal Oppression. Stratos smacked for 1800 and Shane eneded. Landstar summoned Thunder King, ran over Stratos. Shane set a monster and passed. Landstar summoned Neo Allius and attacked the face down Krebons and Thunder King struck directly. Shane set another monster. Landstar attacked the Necro Gardna and set a ST to end. Shane activated Heavy Storm, Landstar had Solemn, Shane Set an ST and Landstar chained MST to destroy shanes bluff D-draw. Landstar summoned Stratos and Shane scooped revealing his hand of 2x D-Draw and 1x DAD!
Shane fails to come back from a bad hand and faceing an even worse field from Landstar. Notch one up for Little City. But now Shane had access to his Side deck and he had a chance to counter.
Shane opened with Allure removing Malicious, telegraphing another in-hand copy. He set 2x Spell or traps and ended. Landstar summoned Thunder King and made a Direct Attack and setting 3x STs. Shane flipped MST and hit a Bribe and Flipped Decree, Ouch! Shane started his turn by summoning Snipe Hunter, discarding a Malicious to hit Thunder King and getting a Six! Shane really wasn’t having good luck! He discarded again and hit with a 3. He removed Malicious and used Teleport to bring out Colossal Fighter. Landstar played ROTA into Stratos and then into Allius. He sent Stratos to kill Snipe ended. Shane Played Reborn on Snipe and discarded Royal Decree to target Stratos. He attacked with both of his monsters and ended. Landstar Played Burden of the Mighty, Summoned Neo Allius and sent him to kill Snipe Hunter. In Main Phase 2 he played Monster Reborn on Snipe Hunter and discarded his final card to target Colossal Fighter but missed! Unable to do anything else, Landstar scoops.
Being forced to play around a Royal Decree and Colossal Fighter, Landstar doesn’t quite manage to pull through and moves quickly onto the third game.
Lnadstar opens with ROTA into Stratos, into Gold Captain and finally Skyscraper. Landstar set 4 STs and ended. Shane played Allure removing Necro Garnda and set a Monster and a ST. Landstar activates MST in the end phase destroying Shanes Mirror Force. Landstar summoned King Tiger Wundet and attacks with both monsters. Shane summons Stratos and takes Malicious and discards him for D-draw, Landstar chained Shadow Imprisoning Mirror. Shane activated Allure removing Krebons, set an ST and ended. Landstar summoned Neo Allius and attacked Stratos with Stratos chaining Shrink in the damage step. The Final two monsters attacked Directly for Exactly game!
None of us saw this coming, but Landstar comes out on top after a difficult second game and is now in the finals and is set for the top.
Finals:
Landstar Vs Andrew
We were all excited about this match as we had seen how Landstar had beat out many TeleDAD decks to get this far, but Andrew had also beaten many toughs decks and excellent players to get this far, with a interesting style of TeleDAD. This was one for the records!
Landstar opened the game with Thunder King and 2 set STs. Andrew summoned Diamond Dude and whiffed a Armageddon Knight. Activated Teleport and Synchrod for Goyo, set 2x STs choosing not to attack. Landstar summoned Exiled Force and Andy Chained Torrential Tribute losing his Goyo and Landstar losing his Thunder King. Landstar set another ST and ended. Andy summoned Armageddon Knight to send Malicious to the grave and removed him for another. He played Teleport and to Synhcro Stardust Dragon. He summoned another Malicious in defence and attacked with Stardust. Landstar flipped Dimensional Prison and Andy flipped Solemn and Landstar chained a Bribe!. Andy ended and Landstar summoned Exiled and attacked Malicious, set 2 STs and ended. Andy summoned Diamond Dude, sent CCV to the bottom of his deck and played Heavy Storm! He played ROTA into Stratos, attacked with his monsters and ended. Landstar summoned Neo Allius and attacked over Armageddon Knight. Andy played ROTA, took Grepher and Played a Teleport for another Goyo. He attacked over Neo Allius and eneded. Landstar looked at his next draw, saw Dark Bribe which was no help and scooped!
Andy play around a very well built anti-meta deck without his side and comes out ontop. One win away from claiming the Regional Title!
Landstar opened Game Two with Stratos into Captain Gold and then into Skyscraper, set a ST and ended. Andy Played ROTA into Stratos. Played Allure removing Krebons. Another Allure removing Breaker. He summoned Stratos and Took Diamond Dude, set 2 STs and ended. Landstar summoned Neo Allius, played R-Righteous Justice, Destroying Dust Tornado and Royal Decree and Landstar Chained his face down Shrink to Stratos. Landstar took down Stratos and set 2 STs to end. Andy Summoned Diamond Dude and whiffed a Malicious and ended. Landstar activated Skyscraper and played Monster Reborn on Gold captain and pushed through with all 3 for game!
Landstar comes through and manages to make use of the lack of Teleports and Malicious from Andy. Game three was going to be very intense. Infact it was so intense that I didn’t managed to catch all of it as I was quite absorbed. I will tell the parts I have.
First thing to note about this match is I caught a glimpse of Landstars opening 5, Honest, exiled Force and 3x Dark Bribe, he had his work cut out for him! Andy opened with Armageddon Knight, sending Malicious to the grave and set a ST. Landstar played MST hitting Dust Tornado and set a monster. Andy Summoned Stratos and took Diamond Dude and attacked into Landstars face down Honest! Andy flipped Decree and Landstar flipped Bribe. Here is where things got slightly fuzzy for me, but the final moments came down to Landstar still having Honest on the Field with a Face up Burden of the Might and Andy having Thought Ruler, but having 1900 atk from Burden, unable to get past Honest. Landstar summoned Neo Allius and Bounced Honest to his hand taking down a Armageddon Knight. Andy passed and Landstar summoned Stratos and took Gold captain. Andy had Thought Ruler Archfiend and attacked Landstars Stratos, trying to Bypass Honest and Landstar Played Dimensional Prison. Andy used Thought Ruler to negate it and Landstar Chained Shadow Imprisoning Mirror! Having lost his key monster Andy had no outs and Landstar claims the Regional Title!!
Well that was the end of our first Worcester Regional and the top spot is taken by a Worcester Club player, Andrew Quinn (Landstar) with Little City!!

I win! XDOMG, what an amazing day!
Having arranged to meet Charlie, Sam and Kieran at Videorome around 9, I wake up about 7:10. Having stayed in bed til 7:40, I end up getting to Videorome around 9:30, only to find Kieran, Charlie and Sam are all late . I manage to borrow my Thunder Kings and Burdens and submit my decklist. Sit down with Charlie, Sam and Kieran, have a test game against Charlie and lose, lol. Well, tourney starts. Stu reads out the rules, having a bigger voice than Tim XD. I find I'm on Table 1, and I proceed to my first match.
Match 1: Me (Little City) vs. James XD (Volcanic Burn)
Nothing to say here really. I win very quickly in both games and 2-0 him.
Match 2: Me (Little City) vs. Aaron (Tele-DAD)
Now, to date, Aaron has failed to beat me outside of the Christmas tourney. My deck is built to take down Tele-DAD, so I was confident going into this matchup. However, I have had no training against Tele-DAD, which was a problem. But hey, better to find out my deck doesn't work against Aaron, as opposed to a better Tele-DAD, like Dan Nelson .
Game 1, Aaron draws into 2 Malicious and can't seem to hang on. Scoops up very early. Game 2, I side into my Middle City as planned and draw Asura Priest early. After a few blows from Asura Priest, Aaron gets a Goyo Guardian out, snatching my Honest in DEF. I kill the Goyo somehow, for him to summon a Mystic tomato and attack with Tomato and Honest. I have Burden on the field so I take 1700. Now, at this point, Aaron has a 1000 ATK, a 700 ATK and 1700 LP. And yet, I have Asura Priest. Takes him a while to notice the mistake. I summon Asura and attack for game. But, well fought Aaron considering you had absolutely terrible hands.
Match 3: Me (Little City) vs. Sean (Lightsworn)
I don't much like this matchup. Lightsworn isn't something my deck is particularly good against. So, I am a bit anxious as to how this'll go. I can't remember much about the first 2 rounds, only that we went 1-1. Can't actually remember much about the third round either, only that Sean made a few misplays, forgetting that Jain can boost herself to 2100 ATK when attacking my monsters. Had he noticed that, he probably could have won. But, I managed to play around that and win.
Match 4: Me (Little City) vs. Sam (Zombie DAD Synchro)
Sam's a great player and qualified for Nats the last 2 years running. And, running my old main deck + DADs. Was gonna be tough.
Game 1, I open with a godly hand. Skill Drain, Oppression, Solemn + monsters. I flip Oppression and Drain and Solemn his only out to make him scoop. Game 2, I set Bribe and Solemn, summon a monster and end. He plays Trunade and I choose not to negate. He then summons 2 Revived Rulers, 2 Goyos and DAD. I scoop, lol. Game 3 goes very similarly to Game 1. I get Shadow Mirror and Oppression and whilst he's desperately looking for outs, makes a misplay by discarding his whole hand, despite wanting to pay for a PWWB on field, and scoops.
---
Now time for a break. I go down to Tasty Takeaway with Charlie, Kieran, Jak and Paul and grab a cheeseburger XD. At this point, I'm fancying my chances, having gone 4-0. But, I'm now up for some very tough matches, considering only 3 people had gone 4-0. Me, Shane Bell and Dan Nelson .
---
Match 5: Me (Little City) vs. Stu (Tele-DAD)
Well, it was Tele-DAD all the way from this point on. I'm still not happy about this particular match, but I'm not going to be petty and go into detail or slag anyone off for it. I got an early game win and despite getting close in game 2, couldn't pull it off and lost.
Match 6: Me (Little City) vs. Dan Nelson (Tele-DAD)
I was personally surprised Dan lost his 5th match. Oh well. Anyway, he's an amazing player and great fun. Kept everyone laughing and in high spirits throughout the tourney. This was over in a matter of minutes in Dan's favour, despite my best efforts.
---
So, I've gone 4-2. My 2 losses have both gone 5-1, so my tiebreakers ended up putting me in overall 5th (as far as I can work out, I think). So, I have finally topped a regional!!! I'm so pleased. Then, I'm told that I have to play Aaron in first round.
Firstly, for Aaron to top a regional at the age of 10 is very impressive. He's learned this game very quickly. From being the Tele-DAD player who wasted all his resources in turn 1 to get slaughtered from there on (XD), to being a generally very well rounded player. Very well done mate. Maybe one of these days you'll beat me XD. Well, Aaron had to leave and couldn't stay for the top-8. Although I'm pleased I get a bye and proceed to top-4, I'm annoyed that I can't play Aaron properly. I'll find you with my new deck at Sutton regionals, don't you worry .
---
I go to top-4, playing Shane Bell and Andrew Swan, both Tele-DAD players. Despite losing to 2 Tele-DADs in Swiss, my deck finally decides to work the way it should. I beat both of them in 2-1 victories. I won't explain exactly how, because you can read Charlie's feature matches XD.
Pros:
1. I won, duh!
2. Got a new mat XD.
3. Traded for a Retiari, a Tempest Magician and a couple of other things, which I'm happy about.
4. Mike got top-8! With Gladiator Beasts! Amazing work mate, hope to see you at Nationals now!
5. Aaron got top-8! 10 years old and has topped his first ever premier event! Amazing work!
6. Tim getting his 2 JDs XD
7. Great work by all of the Judges.
8. Very successful day for Worcester's first ever Premier event! Hopefully, the first of many!
Cons:
Chris (tits). What an idiot, man...
Having to wait for 35 mins afterwards for a bus
The fecking RAIN!!!
