Was a VERY good day!
Notable Duels:
Round 4 Swiss: Me vs. Aaron
In game 1, we had one of the best tourney games I've EVER had. Probably the best since me vs. Kieran back in March when my CO Burn build beat his Zombies. We both started strong as is expected. After a while, I was behind by a large way. Aaron summoned a Goyo and Colossal Fighter, and having dealt with the Goyo by suiciding with my own Goyo, he was poking away with Colossal. I bgean stalling a little and he summoned Snipe Hunter to wipe out my whole field by dropping his whole hand. He attacked again and I was on 400 life points. At this point, I began playing in my MEGA-stall position. I summoned a series of monsters including Reaper, Pyramid Turtle, Goblin Zombies, etc... I stalled for ages until I coul figure out a way around his Colossal Fighter, which was on 3300 ATK by this point. I stalled for around 5-6 turns by defending with monsters as Aaron kept discarding his draws with Snipe to try and go for game, but to no avail (got about 5 mis-throws on his die in a row). Eventually, I drew into a Krebons just as I ran out of steam on the stall. I summoned it to the field, Synchroing with Goblin Zombie for Goyo Guardian. Attacked over Snipe to summon it to my field, dropped my last card in hand and rolled a FIVE! Destroying Colossal Fighter. Aaron was left with no hand and no field, and was forced to topdeck, but at this late stage, he had nothing. Game to me.
Game 2 was over quickly, in Aaron's favour.
Game 3 was mainly stalled between the two of us and time was called. At the end of three turns, I had 7800 LP to Aaron's 7700, and play passed to me to turn four. I put everything into defence and ended, knowing Aaron couldn't do anything. He summoned DAD! Amazing. What a topdeck! Then realised he had 4 DARKs in his grave and scooped up his cards.
Top-4 Match: Me vs. Sean
Game 1 was over very quickly ending in Sean's favour. Nuff said.
Game 2 I sided in my Light Mirrors and they helped out a fair bit. He played an early Solemn which was met by a swarm of Synchros that easily managed to get down his now 4000 LP.
Game 3 Again, I was loving his Solemns. He Solemned my Light Mirror, dropping him to 4000, Solemned again to go to 2000. I stalled a bit as he managed to summon out 2 Wulfs, each with a Lightsworn Sabre equipped and then reborned my Card Trooper for a 1900 attacker. nicely timed Threatening Roar let me tribute my two monsters for Darklord Zerato and drop a Goblin Zombie to wipe out his whole field, to his own amazement. Thanks to his 2 Solemns, I easily attacked to finish the game.
