If people want my personal opinion, which I'm not sure they do, but I'm gonna voice t anyway. :L
Videodrome has been a great shop, and I've been there for a huge part of my life, but I mainly go there because of the hobby leagues, and this new place has those too...
Videodrome pros and cons:
PROS:
+ Good prices on packs (especially the new drops on the three GX main packs)
+ The staff are good people
+ Movie stuffs
CONS:
- No loo in there
- Stuffy
- Cramped
- No air conditioning
- Rips off customers on some offers
This new places pros and cons:
PROS:
+ Room
+ Air conditioning
+ Linked to an easy access shop
+ Easy place to get an unproffesional job
+ Wide screen TV
+ Xbox 360 (just to take a break from playing card games)
+ Get great deals on cards
CONS:
- Don't do some of the merchandise, movie or otherwise
- It's just not videodrome
Weighing out the pros and cons, I'm regretting to inform that I'm gonna be going with the new place, we need to move on anyway.
Adding insult to injury, I'm currently working for this new shop, as I've asked them if I can help them out, in return I get to trade in stock and I get free food and drink. Sorry guys, but I might pop in now and again.

im not 100% sure but atm it is looking at the new place it has everything the vid drome has to offer and more but i dont wanna abandon a place i have been going to since i moved into worcster (well worcster area)
and im not sure but atm it is looking more at the new shop cuz the vid drome dus get cramped and today sed it all plus soon u shud be able to selll your cards plus i might be taking up magic ASWELL ,aswell meaning i will still be doing yugioh but i will post mi final choice wen other certain people express their opinion but i dont wanna leave my timmy's =[

ive put 4 years of my time and effort into this group and videodrome has put 2 years in now any of you are gonna be that sad to leave videodrome then expect me to not have anything to do with you
now there are plenty of you who have already said you will be loyal to us and i say thanks to you , it means alot to us

I'd like to air my opinion on this if I may.
Right, I won't deny that I like this new shop. It seems like a great new place to go and hang out. I mean, come on... Videorome just can't compete with a 50" plasma TV, Air Conditioning, and adjoint convenience store for selling food and drinks!
However, if we're considering the bigger picture. As in, if either party forced us to choose absolutely between one or the other, then this new shop hasn't impressed me by the way of tournament support. In time, they may prove to be a very good venue. If I were a UDE rep then looking at the two facilities, I would obviously choose this new one as the venue for something big, like a Grand Qualifier for the Nationals or the Fortune Tour. But, these guys are VASTLY inexperienced in Yugioh. Why else were they following GREYLIGHT for their prices??? And hence how we all got such good deals for our cards! They don't know yet that the stuff we traded them is pretty much useless!
For now, Videorome is going to be the best site for tournaments, whereas this new place appears to be a much better place to hang out and to buy stock (I bought 3 Turbo Warrior tins for £5 each for crying out loud!!! I pulled a Tempest Magician!!!). Right now, there's no reason why anyone should be forced into choosing one or the other because both of them offer their own benefits.
For the record, if the new shop (and yes, that is its official name...) carries on like they are, they will go under in Yugioh terms quite quickly (but they may still remain a good place for Magic or WoW). However, if they get themselves sorted and get in someone who knows what they're doing with regards to Yugioh, then I don't see anything other than pure loyalty keeping people from moving away from Videodrome.
On another note, I hear Videodrome were offered to simply hold their tournaments at the new shop? And so essentially running our same tourneys in a much better venue...? I'd personally like to know why this isn't possible!!!

if it wasnt for tim i would still be at redditch league so i wud stay wit my mates at videodrome if tournaments are on at same time. i cant see why if they do a tournament on a different day time we cant do both! its like sutton runnin a tournament jus a little closer to home!
videodrome will be 1st choice
2nd choice other shop
but i would attend both like im sure alot of people would.

Yeah, why do we have to choose? What if the new shop held a FT qualifier on the day that Videorome held a regular hobby league? Am I understand that wanting to go to the qualifier would lose me some brownie points, so to speak?

i'm for 1 not to take sides my parents taught me well not to take sides i have never done it and don't intend to
i was speaking to tim about this last week
as many of u may know the birmingham based players don't have access to a shop with we can call a local the nearest place we can duel is sutton coldfield for me its alot quicker to go to worcester where i have been a member for about 12 months now
sutton coldfield is about £3 on the train
and worcester is £7
i visit both shops
sutton not as much as i work during the week days so i only get 2 days a week to play yugioh although i should spend time with my g/f xD
anyhow
i enjoy going to both worcester and sutton coldfield, sutton is a good place to make some cash aswell as play the yugiohs aswell as making and meeting new friends
same goes for worcester IMO i think i have made some great friends over the past 12 months at worcester giving my "big streak" i think i made worcester more competitive giving that Landstar and charlie have become more competitive over the last 12 or so months that i have been going there
for me the more locals i can find i will go to them
recently well more like the past 9 months borders have been starting there meetings inspired by dans shop and have ran 3 sucessful tournaments including a city championship
i also travel to far places such as leicester for local tournaments £5 entry and prizes are really good i suppose u could say manaleak is the same kind of size to leister pheonix games leicester maybe been alot better since they can fit well over 100 players
the new shop is not a high supported on yugioh although they do buy/sell/trade via greylight they do much better in the game of magic 3 of the 4 people who run it been top 100 players in the world according to the rankings so much to my knowledge they will concentrate more on the magic side for worcester ok they might have a tournament every now and then for yugioh so what is it really worth fighting over and losing friends cause u choose to play somewhere else
i do agree that worcester video drome and tim have given lots of support to all the local players and regional players support over the last 3-4 years but if they were to start banning people for choosing another hobby shop over them then thats just silly

I suppose I should mention how I feel on this matter and my opinion is very similar to Landstars.
This "New Shop" has a nice lay out, good facilities and is generally a bit more comfortable than the videodrome.
Saying that, They are going to be out of business VERY soon if they don't understand the game of Yugioh very soon. We all flocked there solely because of the ridiculous deals what got for our cards. But something tells me that this won't be going on for very long when they start making losses, so watch out, that factor aint going to last for long.
The Videodrome and Tim have done a fantastic job with getting us Regionals, City Champs and Sneak Peaks and for putting in so much effort in getting us the Hobby League and Local Tournaments we have. This new shop will not have ANYTHING compared to what we have for a LONG time, so when you go to this new shop if they start running tournaments, be prepared to be disappointed.
Unfortunately, at the end of the day, this is business, and which ever business offers the best deals will get the customers. But I do not think that we cannot still do both. If both venues hold a hobby league, I will go with the one I know better (Videodrome). But as Landstar said, If one has a FT Qualifier/Regional and the other is a Hobby League, I know which one I'm going to.
Just remember people what the Videodrome has done for us over the years, without them, this new shop wouldn't have known there was a market for Yugioh in Worcester.

I'm obviously very loyal to videodrome but I'm just confused to why we can't go to both. I will obviously always attend the videodrome tournaments but I will every so often go down to the new shop for obvious reasons. It doesn't mean anything... I've been going to videodrome longer than most people and I wouldn't like to think our relationship with the store should be affected because we want to TAKE ADVANTAGE of another shops foolishness xD

This place hasn't bitched about you, don't bitch about it. And I'm not going to apologise for what I said, I mean they're selling £2 cards for £10, that's taking the piss a bit I think.
It's just some healthy competition to Videodrome, and Videodrome has been slagging them off, not allowing them to get an alcohol license. That's not fair. I will probably go into Videodrome and might buy some packs, because of the new reductions, but I don't think I'm going to be part of a group, who's sticking with Videodrome, who is slagging off another shop, I mean give it a chance, it can fit up to 30-60 players in there for gods sake!!! Give it a chance, you might like it...
Plus I've had physical threats from you Tim, threatening to "batter" me. Plus, any things you've said against anti-Yugioh players is bullshit, I remember one incident in Mcdonalds where all these chavs were ripping on ALL of us and you just sat there. I mean fair enough there were more of them, but someone with your build could've taken some of them, either that or got them thrown out at the very least. You could tell they didn't like me in particular and still you did nothing.

he is true orgiansed play at the moment does not exist in the uk or for europe on that matter
konami are still going through changes and as soon as there done
everyone will have to re sign up to konami on a new card meaning a new ID number and will have to re-take T.O tests and organiser tests aswell as judges tests this does not applie to level 2 judges and higher

The reason I keep deleting and Locking this thread is cuz people are starting to flame and that is against our rules! You were making an insult against Landstar and calling people a backstabber! This is something that should be discussed maturely, without insults and with reasoned, well thought out explaintions, not just going around calling people backstabbers cuz you don't like there opinion.

I know i don't have an opinion on this but why don't you just see if the 2 shops can organize their tournaments around each other. I don't see why this has to be an arguement about this and why you can't embrace the fact that the tournament scene is getting bigger in worcester.
No offense to tim or anyone but i don't think its fair for you to asking people to choose between one shop or the other when it seems like they main focus will be other games. I mean dan in sutton hasn't stopped any of you going to his tournament despite the fact your are running one that is in a sort of competion with his.

I think it's more likely that we can't be bothered to argue any more. No side is winning on this really. Besides, the thread was originally made to see who was supporting videodrome, not see if anyone could flame the other side enough so that they'd back down into submission.
I won't say any more on the matter until it clears up. I don't agree with either side of it right now and we'll leave it at that.

Ok then. I'll say this. I think Tim does deserve some loyalty for everything he's done for this group. As does Videodrome. With the exception of not being able to get Raging Battle this weekend (which isn't even their fault!), they've always been fantastic with organising events and getting product in on time. I've won many tournaments at Worcester over the past 2 years and it's helped me to greatly improve my game. I have a lot of fun playing in these tournaments I don't want to stop it here! I mean, 2 and a half years ago, tournaments would consist of about 10 of us playing in the corner of a pub. And now look at us! We just had a 34-man regional this year! That feat alone deserves congratulations!
However, I may end up leaving to go to Manaleak or elsewhere for my locals. Not because they are better or worse than Videodrome or anything like that, but because I don't want to be in the thick of this stupid and pointless argument. If this doesn't resolve any time soon, then don't expect me to want to come along. If this DOES resolve, Videodrome will have my full support and I will of course attend tournaments again!

videodrome have been great when we preety much had nowhere 2 duel drome lets us play their if it were'nt 4 them then we might not have anywhere 2 duel come on people jus show drome your gratatude and stick with them just respect in the end and if your jus gonna argue with me then don't bother posting anything

well, since i would still have about 100 cards stuck in a tin in a corner of my room if it weren't for videodrome, they have my full support =] i've just read the last 4 pages of this thread =| put me (Dan.B) on the list, and since i don't even know where this other shop is, you can expect me at videodrome whenever i can make it, i just hope this is resolved as i'd hate for the group to lose landstar, charlie etc just because a new shop opened up near videodrome =|

I've read the thread and thought i needed to say a few words.
I think everybody just needs to timeout and calm.
Things must not get out of hand - all you guys are welcome at The Videodrome. We enjoy the buzz and the life you guys bring with you. You are free to go to either shop, both shops or neither shop. We will continue to offer the best environment, the best atmosphere and the best deals we possible can. We value all of you at the Videodrome - not as customers but as people.
Many of you I have known a long time, In fact I first new Michael Murphy when he was still in a pram!!
Threats of any kind by anyone and to anyone are unacceptable.
As for any dispute between us and Manaleak. It is true we have opposed their Off licence application, as did most of the shops in lower Broad Street - which is our right. Worcester city centre has a ban on street drinking and an off license is not welcome on Broad St. Other than that their is no dispute, as far as I am aware, between us and them. Obviously their is healthy competition and the main benefactor of that is you the customer.
We are not entering into a battle of words with Manaleak, there are obviously some wild rumours flying around but I can stop those now and some people may being talking out of hand - please dont, it is very easy for things to get out control as chinese whispers go around.
